My my, how time flies. Five years ago today, recording began with drum tracking at @billleverty’s studio for what became our debut album, #TheCodeDuello. Lots of memories across many studios - @virtueandvicestudios in Brooklyn, then back down in VA with @audioveriterva, @soundofmusicrva, @whitestarsound, @blueroomdc, and @scottsadditionsound. But looking forward, we couldn’t be more stoked about #IVLP2 and @zuehsow at @keystonestudiosnashville here in #Nashville is doing a phenomenal job so we can’t wait to share this music with you. 2019 is going to be a big year! 8/21/18 #IVLP2 #Recording Check-In. Slow and steady wins the race but on session 10, we completed work on all #guitars, #bass and #drums for the first nine songs of the record! Next month we will reconvene and begin recording drums and bass on the final four songs! That's right: there are three blanks on the board but we're adding a fourth. So, to most of you this might not mean much. But to us, it means EVERYTHING. I PROMISE YOU this is quite possibly one of the most important issues facing our world of music creation & business, arguably to date. • • Long story short...creators (songwriters, producers, etc) are subject to monetary laws that haven’t changed since the 1940’s & with the current scope of consumption & music business money flow, those laws have made it increasingly difficult to be compensated FAIRLY for their efforts and (intellectual) property. Their ideas...their livelihood...their SONGS. The songs that are nothing less than the soundtrack to our lives. Period. • • People like @disraelite @nmpaorg @leethomasmiller @rossgolan among an army of other saints have worked tirelessly in & out of Congress to move the needle on this issue & introduce the fully supported Music Modernization Act (MMA). A great step forward in bringing fair compensation to creators. • • Now, in the 11th hour, the Performance Rights Organization @sesac (owned & under the influence of big money conglomerate @Blackstone) has proposed an amendment to the MMA that will DRASTICALLY undercut not only the leeway & positive ground that has been finally gained on these issues, but the WORTH & VALUE of music and the people that bring it into this world. All for Blackstone’s own selfish monetary interest. Completely disregarding the damage it will no doubt impose on our creative industry. • • I realize that as an artist I am very lucky to have other income than solely the songs that I write (live shows, merch, endorsements, etc), so that simple fact should do nothing less than amplify my passion & the severity of my stance on this issue. • • What can you do?
